A man is in serious condition in Harrogate District Hospital after he was found lying unconscious in the road in Pateley Bridge.

The man, aged 58, from Cornwall, was found by a passing motorist near Riverside Caravan Park on Low Wath Road, close to the junction with Ashfield Court Road, at around 1.40am today, Friday, August 10.

He had suffered a head injury and was taken to Harrogate District Hospital where he remains in a serious condition.

Police are appealing for witnesses to contact them.

Officers are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident and are would like anyone who can help their enquiries to come forward.
