A PENSIONER was killed when his silver Volvo left the road and hit a tree on the B6451 on Monday.

The 71-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene after the crash near to Lindley Wood Reservoir between Farnley and Fewston.

The road was closed for much of the day and police are now appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

TC Neale Rees, of the force’s roads policing group, said: “I ask that anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the silver Volvo prior to the incident contacts me as soon as possible as I need to speak to them.”

Police say that at the time of the crash, the Volvo was travelling from the Fewston area towards Otley, from a junction known locally as Dangerous Crossroads.

Police say he was the driver of the car, which left the road at around 11.40am. It was the only vehicle involved in the crash.

Anyone with information is asked to contact TC Neale Rees on 0845 6060247.
