A NEW Assistant Chief Constable is in place at North Yorkshire Police.
Iain Spittal was appointed temporarily to the post in August last year. He will have responsibility for the command of all police operations in the area.
Asst Chief Constable Spittal joined North Yorkshire Police in 1986, promoted to the rank of Chief Superintendent in 2005 taking over as the Area Commander for both the City of York and Selby District in May 2005.
He said he was honoured to take on the position: “I know that delivering safer neighbourhoods policing is seen as an essential service by the communities we serve. It is at the heart of everything that North Yorkshire Police does and is the key to keeping the area one of the safest in the country.”
