A motorcyclist who died at the scene of a collision, near Harrogate, has been identified as a Ripon man.

The incident involving a white and silver BMW motorcycle and a black Volkswagen Polo happened yesterday (Sunday September 25) at about 5.30pm.

The motorcyclist was travelling west on Kirkby Lane from Sicklinghall towards Netherby while the Polo was travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the motorbike, a man in his 50s from the Ripon area, came off his bike and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigations are on-going but police have said they are 'not in a position' to reveal the man's full identity.

Police want to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the collision and request that anyone who saw either of these vehicles prior to the collision to contact TC Mark Mullens.
