North Yorkshire Police are investigating the death of a man outside of Harrogate Police Station on Sunday April 28.
The body of the man believed to be in his 60s was found by an officer in the visitor’s car park on Beckwith Head Road at around 4:20pm.
It is believed the man drove a Renault car into the car park and shot himself .
Police have confirmed that a firearm was recovered from the scene of the incident.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and he has not yet been identified by the Police.
The station was open with a number of staff at the premisis at the time of the incident.
The investigating into the circumstances surrounding the man’s death is ongoing, but they do not believe that it was suspicious and nobody else is being sought in connection with the incident.
Harrogate Police station was closed while the scene was investigated but is now open as usual.
An inquest into the mans death is expected to be opened and ajourned today (Thursday May 2).
