A Knaresborough teen has been arrested in connection with a violent disturbance in Malton on Bank Holiday Monday.

A large group of people pulled up on Milton Avenue, Malton and got out of two cars carrying implements including a baseball bat and garden tools.

They approached a property and threatened the occupant before some of the group began fighting with three people in the street.

A 16-year-old boy from Knaresborough was detained on Tuesday afternoon and questioned by officers in connection with the incident. He has been released on police bail while the investigation continues.

Officers are still appealing for information from members of the public.

PC Tim Welford of Malton Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “This was a frightening incident and caused a lot of concern among the local community at the time. We would like to reassure residents that we believe the incident was an isolated one and that the wider community were not at risk.
