A lonely lost sheep has been found in a garden in Ripon.

The Suffolk tup was found in a garden of a house next to the A61 on Monday September 29.

The animal is now being looked after by a local arable farmer while police try to trace its owner to reunite it with its flock.

The sheep is believed to be around 18 months old and has a tag in its right ear and a marking in its left ear,

PC Gareth Jones, of Ripon Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “There are no sheep farms in the local area and so it is possible that the tup has escaped from a passing vehicle.

“If you have any information which could to reunite the sheep with its owner please get in touch with the police as soon as possible.”

Anyone who can help to identify the owner of the Suffolk Tup should contact Ripon police on 101, select option 2 and ask for Gareth Jones. Alternatively, information can be emailed to gareth.jones@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk
