“We are doing everything we can to investigate this very concerning incident which has left the member of staff in a state of shock,” said Det Con Fiona Ayre, of Harrogate CID, adding that a team of officers searched the area on Thursday night and in the early hours of Friday morning. Police patrols have also been stepped up in the area to reassure residents as the investigation continues.
Detectives are now appealing for help to try and trace the man responsible. He is described as white and his face was covered by a dark garment and a dark hat. He was wearing a dark jacket and he was carrying a dark holdall bag.
“To help our enquires, we are urging any witnesses or people with information about the suspect to come forward without delay, said DC Ayre. “It happened at a fairly busy time of day with people walking and driving in the area, so please get in touch if you recall seeing a man dressed in dark clothing and carrying a holdall either before or after the robbery at around 8pm. Even the smallest piece of information could be very important.”
