Thieves made off with an ice cream van after breaking into a lock up in Wetherby.

Police said that intruders gained entry to the garage on York Road Industrial Estate in the early hours of January 16.

“Once inside they have caused damage to one of two ice cream vans in the premises before taking the keys and stealing the second vehicle,” said the Wetherby Police spokesman.

The stolen vehicle is a Ford Transit, registered KF57 NVY, and is pink and white in colour.

They added that there had been other vehicle related crimes in the area over a number of days.

Overnight January 13 and 14, the rear light cover and a wing mirror were taken from a parked vehicle which was parked on Poplar Avenue, Wetherby.

A blue Peugeot 206, registered MT56 EZW, was stolen from Northfield Mews, Wetherby, overnight January 20 and 21. Police said the vehicle was owned by a resident who died recently.

Cosmetics and money were stolen from a car in Mill Lane, Collingham at about 1pm on January 20, after thieves smashed one of the passenger windows.
