A hunt is on for a Harrogate man who is wanted for extradition to Portugal.
Police in North Yorkshire are asking for the public’s help in finding Stuart Worsley, 41, after he failed to answer bail.
Portuguese authorities are trying to trace him in connection with burglary and assault offences which happened in Lagos last year.
“Stuart, if you see or hear this appeal I very strongly advise you to hand yourself in to the nearest police station immediately,” said Insp Rob Settle of North Yorkshire Police Tasking and Logistics Unit, who is leading the hunt for Worsley
“This is not an issue that will go away. We will not stop the search for you until you are in custody.”
Worsley is described as being white, 5ft 9in tall, with a medium build and brown hair.
His whereabouts are unknown and police say it is possible that he is anywhere in the country. However, he is originally from Harrogate and is believed to have links in the Nottingham area.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police or Crimestoppers immediately.
“If you are protecting Worsley you are not helping him, indeed you are only delaying the inevitable outcome,” said Insp Settle.
“Also, I ask you to consider the possible consequences for yourself. If you are shielding Worsley you may be committing offences. If this is the case, you face the prospect of being arrested and may face prosecution.”
Anyone who can help to locate Stuart Worsley is asked to contact North Yorkshire Police on 101 immediately, select option 1 and pass the information to the Force Control Room.
Or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
