The following were dealt with at Harrogate Magistrates Court on June 9:

Harrison Drew Cook, 21, of Flat 2, 14 Alexandra Road, Harrogate, was given a three-month conditional discharge for using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of violence, in Parliament Street. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15 and costs of £85.

James Michael Hudson, 23, of 9 Arthurs Grove, Harrogate, was given a three-month conditional discharge for using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear of violence, in Parliament Street. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15 and costs of £85.

Andrew Mark Newbury, 37, of 2 highfield Court, Brayton, Selby, was fined £430 for driving while under the influence of alcohol in Beckwithshaw. He was disqualified from driving for 40 months, and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £43 and costs of £85. No separate penalty was imposed for driving without due care and attention.

Matthew Aaron Yare, 34, of no fixed address, was given a 14-day prison sentence for failing to attend appointments following his release from prison. Magistrates found he had also stolen a crate of Stella beer from the One Stop Shop in Knaresborough Road while subject to a committing a further offence while subject to a conditional discharge for two counts of using racially-aggravated harassment, alarm or distress. They ordered him to pay compensation of £11 and imposed a further consecutive sentence of 28 days.

The following were dealt with at Harrogate Magistrates Court on June 14:

David James Baynes, 50, of 37 Frogmire Road, Knaresborough, was fined £120 for assaulting a police officer at the ambulance station in Lancaster Park Road, Harrogate. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and costs of £85.

Marcus Oliver Elliott, 22, of 21 Nesfield Crescent, Belle Isle, Leeds, was given a 12-month community order for assaulting a man in the Viper Lounge in Parliament Street, Harrogate, on New Year’s Day. He was ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work and to pay compensation of £1,500, a victim surcharge of £60 and costs of £85.

Paul Stephen Noble, 57, of Hazel Dene, 3 Belmont View, Calcutt, was fined £80 for possession of diamorphine. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85. Magistrates ordered that the drugs be forfeited and destroyed.

Steven Turner, 49, of St Michaels Cottage, Abbots Bromley Road, Burton on Trent, was fined £190 for driving while under the influence of alcohol on Cold Bath Road, Harrogate. He was disqualified from driving for one year, to be reduced by three months on completion of an approved course, and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and costs of £85.

Lukasz Tybor, 35, of Flat 1, 59-61 Leeds Road, Harrogate, was fined £345 for failing to provide a blood sample after being suspected of driving a vehicle. He was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £35 and costs of £85, and was disqualified from driving for a year, to be reduced by three months on completion of an approved course.

Ryan Michael Palmer, 37, of no fixed address, was given a four-week prison sentence for possession of cannabis at Harrogate Bus Station. He was told to pay a victim surcharge of £115, and magistrates ordered that the drug be forfeited and destroyed.

Andrew James Ridley, 34, of 51 Regent Avenue, Harrogate, was given a 12-month community order and ordered to take part in a drink-impaired drivers programme for driving while under the influence of alcohol on Ripon Road, Harrogate. Magistrates imposed a fine of £230, a victim surcharge of £85 and costs of £85, and banned him from driving for 40 months, to be reduced by 40 weeks on completion of an approved course.
