A WOMAN was left with a serious eye injury after a collision on the edge of Harrogate.

The 24-year-old was driving along Otley Road towards Harrogate on Friday, September 16, around 12.30pm, when her wing mirror was hit by a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction, near the junction with Crag Lane and Beckwith Head Road.

Glass from the wing mirror of her white Ford Fiesta flew through her window and landed in her eye. The other vehicle, believed to be a grey estate car, did not stop at the scene.

PC Simon Pape, of Harrogate police, said: “The incident has unfortunately left the young woman involved with potentially permanent eye injuries.

“The driver of the vehicle did not stop at the scene to see if she was ok - they may not have been aware that the collision occurred. However, I would appeal to the driver of that vehicle to do the right thing and come forward if you know you were involved.

“I would also appeal to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward and help with the investigation.”
