Elderly man injured in Harrogate

AN ELDERLY man was left with serious head injuries after being knocked down by a van in the centre of Harrogate.

The 81-year-old was waiting to cross West Park, opposite Specialized cycle shop, on Monday, December 5 at around 10.45am, when he was hit by a white van.

He was taken to Harrogate District Hospital with serious head injuries, where his condition was today described as stable.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the collision, or who saw the man prior to the incident, to get in touch.

TC Steve Wright of Harrogate Roads Policing Group, said: “It is important that we speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident so we can establish the exact circumstances of the collision.

“It is quite a busy part of town and there will have been a number of people out and about on Monday morning. If you have information which could help us, please get in touch.”
