A dog has been seriously hurt in a hit-and-run in Harrogate.

The greyhound, called Silver, suffered a broken leg and jaw after being hit by a car on Montpellier Hill.

Police are now calling on the driver of a silver Honda CRV to “do the right thing” and hand himself in.

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to get in touch as soon as possible,” said TC Andy Mcleod, of the Harrogate Roads Policing Group.

“The dog sustained some nasty injuries in the incident and it is important that we trace the driver of the silver Honda.

“If you were the driver of that vehicle, I urge you to do the right thing and contact the police.”

Silver was struck last Thursday night, April 11, at 11.50pm.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, selecting option two and asking for TC Mcleod, quoting reference number 12130057516.

Alternatively, information can be sent via email to andy.macleod@northyorkshire.pnn.police.uk.
