Cyclist comes forward after cycle path hit and run

Police have confirmed a 56-year-old local man voluntarily attended Harrogate Police Station on Wednesday evening, April 3to say he was the cyclist involved in a collision with an elderly woman on the cycle path between Ripley and Bilton on Easter Monday.

The 78-year-old victim is being treated in hospital for a broken hip and is described as being in a stable condition.

The man is assisting officers with the ongoing investigation.

Police also said another man officers had traced in the Ripon area on Monday evening, was not involved in the collision.
