Crime File with Harrogate Police

Police in the Harrogate district are appealing for information about the following incidents which have been reported in the town in recent days:

l A pair of sunglasses was stolen from a car parked on Dragon Road overnight from July 7 to 8.

l Cash and CDs were stolen from an open-top convertible parked in Sainsbury’s on Kings Road between 5.10pm and 5.30pm on July 9.

l Three cars parked in the Oarkdale and Oakdale Glen area were broken into between the afternoon of July 9 and the following morning. Golf clubs, cash, i-Pod, keys and a sat nav were stolen.

l A number plate was stolen from a motorcycle parked on Beckwith Knowle on the morning of July 11.

l An i-Pad was stolen from a car parked on Kings Road between 10am and noon on July 12.

l Burglars broke into a house on Bilton Lane in the early hours on Sunday morning, stealing keys and the family car - before abandoning the vehicle shortly after on Dene Park. Police say the burglars struck at around 4am.

l A red Rabana mountain bike was stolen from the rear of Cheltenham Parade between July 6 and 8.

l A men’s black Carrera subway hybrid mountain bike was stolen from outside Harrogate District Hospital at around 3.30pm on July 10.

l A hanging basket was stolen from the front of a house on Kingsley Drive overnight between July 10 and 11.

Police are urging residents to take extra care after a number of thefts from vehicles this week.

“Vehicle owners must ensure that when left unattended even for a short time, they check that they have locked all doors and valuables are removed,” said Sgt Bob Chambers. “An opportunist thief can be in and out of an insecure vehicle in a matter of seconds.”
