Police have issued advice for residents to follow during the Christmas period:

“As it gets closer to Christmas when out shopping it is vitally important that you take extra care of your belongings.

“Historically around the Christmas period we see a spike in thefts of handbags and purses as thieves know that they are likely to contain more cash.

“They also know that as the high street gets busier, they can get away quickly without being identified. Don’t leave your purse or handbag unattended at any point.”
