Crime File: Round up of Harrogate police appeals

Police in Harrogate are appealing for information about a number of crimes which have been reported across the district in recent days.

- Burglars struck at a house on Stone Rings Lane on the afternoon of Thursday, April 23.

Cash and jewellery were stolen in the raid between 2.35pm and 4pm. Police are now appealing for witnesses.

- A street fight broke out in Harrogate on the evening of Tuesday, April 21.

Three people, including two men and a woman, suffered minor injuries in the fracas, say police.

The disturbance was reported to police at around 7.30pm, and officers are now appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened to get in touch.

Three people were arrested in connection with the incident.

Two men, aged 48 and 50, and a woman aged 27, have been released on bail as the investigation continues.

- A search is on for a wanted man who may be connected to a series of thefts and frauds committed in Harrogate and across North Yorkshire.

Police are asking for the public’s help to find Simon Keith Wilson in connection with the offences in Harrogate, Whitby, York, and Northallerton between December 2014 and February this year.

Officers say they believe the 31-year-old has important information that could help their investigations and “extensive” searches have been carried out to find him.

Police are now appealing to members of the public, shop owners and bed and breakfast providers to contact them if they have seen Mr Wilson or know where he is now, quoting reference 12150027694.

- A biker was left with a broken leg after a crash in Starbeck on Friday, April 17.

The crash, between the driver of a black 125 cc Pulse motorcycle heading towards Harrogate from Knaresborough and a red Skoda Fabia, happened at the junction of High Street and Spa Lane at around 7.40pm.

The biker was taken to Harrogate District Hospital where he was found to have a broken leg.

TC Ken Riley said: “There were a number of people in the area around the time of the incident, both witnesses and those who stopped to help the motorcyclist, who have not yet spoken to the police.

“They may have vital information which could assist our investigation.

“I would urge anyone who may be able to help establish the circumstances leading up to the serious injuries to the rider to contact me.”

- A moped was stolen from Starbeck on the evening of Tuesday, April 14.

The orange and black Peugeot Trekker 50cc was taken from the junction of Spa Street with the rear of Spa Lane, between 6.30pm and 10.15pm.

Police say a small white van with orange maintenance style lights on the roof was seen in the area around the time of the theft, and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

“In particular, we are appealing for information about any suspicious activity in the area and also information regarding any vehicles matching the description of the van seen at the time of the incident,” a spokesman said.
