A FORMER professional cricketer who now plays for Bilton Cricket Club has appeared in court charged with running a cannabis farm.
Darren Blenkiron, 37, who played for Durham County Cricket Club between 1991 and 1996, made an appearance at Durham Crown Court last Thursday.
He did not enter a plea and was bailed until a further hearing on November 18.
Along with another man, Blenkiron was charged following the discovery of an alleged cannabis farm at a property in West Auckland, County Durham.
He has played for Bilton since April 2009, when he joined from Bradford League team Bankfoot.
