Thousands of pounds worth of chocolate has been stolen in a Harrogate raid.

Thieves struck at a Hornbeam Park warehouse overnight on Saturday, plundering chocolate stock belonging to Confectionary By Design and Serious Sweets.

Detectives are now investigating and so much was stolen, say police, that the total cost will amount to several thousands of pounds.

“Due to the amount of chocolate which has been stolen, I believe that a large vehicle will have been used to transport it,” said Det Con Sam Harding, of Harrogate CID.

“If you saw any suspicious activity in the Hornbeam Park area around the time of the burglary I urge you to come forward and contact the police straight away.”

Police say the thieves struck between 4.45pm on Saturday, November 1, and 6am the following morning.

Det Con Harding added: “I am also keen to speak to anyone who is offered chocolate bearing either the brands Confectionary by Design or Serious Sweets in unusual circumstances and ask them to get in touch as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Harrogate CID on 101, selecting option 2 and askign for Sam Harding.
