A WINDMILL has been stolen from the garden of a house in St Andrew’s Avenue.

It was taken between 11.30pm on Tuesday, July 19 and 7.30am on Wednesday, July 20.

Police have appealed for information to trace the model, which is just over a metre tall and marked with the owner’s details. It was secured to the ground and police believe the thieves had to use force to remove it.

PC Lynsey Ridout, of the Harrogate Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “The theft of the windmill, which was brought from Germany by the couple’s son, has left them very upset.

“This is a particularly heartless theft, as the owners of the house are well known locally for their impressive Christmas displays which they use to raise money for charity.

“I ask that anyone who knows anything about this theft, or can identify those responsible, to contact the police as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information can contact PC Ridout at Harrogate Police Station on 0845 6060247, quoting reference 12110120455.

Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
