Appeal after serious crash

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a serious crash on the A6055 which has left a man in hospital.

The crash, at the crossroads of the Arkendale Road and Westfield Lane, saw a black Kia Sportage collide with a grey Audi A6 shortly after 9.30am on Saturday.

The driver of the Kia, a 42-year-old local man, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Harrogate District Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.

The driver of the Audi, a 38-year-old local man, received treatment for minor injuries.

Police closed the road for several hours as they carried out their investigations.

They are now appealing for any witnesses to the crash to contact TC Stephen Wright of Harrogate police on 0845 6060247.
