One of Harrogate’s most active and creative community groups is holding a nativity trail this weekend.

The festive trail will be part of a festive event tomorrow, Saturday, organised by Oatlands Community Group.

The new venture follows the success of its Wonderful Windows event earlier in the year.

Organiser, and member of the Oatlands Community Group, Victoria Smith-Dunn said “We received so much positive feedback about Wonderful Windows.

“All generations enjoyed wandering around the local community, so with this in mind we have been inspired to create a Christmas-themed event with a pop up TUKI café, community carols and a Nativity Trail.”

Oatlands Community Centre on Mount Street will be open from 3p-6pm when the public can call in for some soup and other refreshments and join the nativity trail.

There will be 12 Christmas-related clues to find in the windows and gardens of local houses and businesses in the area.

Organisers say the trail should take about an hour to complete.

Anyone who takes part can then return to the community centre between 5pm and 6pm when there will be hot dogs and other refreshments available plus a festive gift from Santa.

All entries returned during the afternoon will also be entered into a prize draw to win a children’s hamper.

Victoria Smith-Dunn said: “We are very grateful for all the support we have received.

“Fulton Foods, Leeds have very kindly offered to sponsor the refreshments, Oatlands Community Centre are providing the venue free of charge and many local residents and business have offered their windows for the trail.”

Donations will go to the charity Candlelighters.
