Ripon Cathedral Choristers spent a night on the historic building’s stone floors to raise money for their choir tour.
Last Friday, February 24, the boy and girl choristers sang Evensong followed by Compline at 9pm before pulling on their pyjamas and setting up camp on the cathedral floor for a sponsored sleepover.
Ghost stories were told as they settled for the night ready to wake for Mattins the following morning.
Joined by the Dean and Canon Paul, the choristers are raising money to help send them on choir tours throughout the country.
They are also planning to tour New Zealand in 2014 singing at as many cathedrals and different venues as they can.
The aim is to raise money for the cathedral community of Christchurch.
The funds will help replace the music and surplice’s lost in the earthquake.
It was especially fitting that the sleepover was held at the beginning of the week marking the first anniversary of the earthquake.
