The awards, which are held every two years, attracts entrants from across the world and is judged by an invited panel made up exclusively of experienced brewers from around the world. Beers were judged from breweries from as far away as New Zealand and the USA, Brazil and Japan, as well as more closely to home, from across Europe and the UK.Having won a bronze medal for Baby-Faced Assassin, Rooster’s flagship IPA, in cask at the 2015 awards, the family-owned brewery exceeded expectations, winning a gold, silver and bronze this time around. It was Baby-Faced Assassin that once again proved to be cock of the walk, winning a gold medal in can, ahead of entries from breweries in Australia and Canada. The keg version of the beer also bagged a bronze. Rooster’s pioneering pale ale, Yankee, the first of its kind to be brewed with new world hops from the USA over twenty years ago, was awarded a silver in its category in keg, completing a hat-trick of medals that the brewers will collect at a formal ceremony at the Guild Hall in London on April 26th.Rooster’s Head Brewer, Oliver Fozard, said: “I’m incredibly proud of our team. To win the bronze medal two years ago was a real honour, but to come away with three this time around is an exceptional achievement.“Up until a little over two years ago, we had never packaged our beer in keg or can, so to have won the awards in these categories is extra pleasing. "As with our cans, all of our keg beers are brewed and packaged in-house, so these awards recognise not just the quality of the beer we brew, but also the practices we have in place to package them to a high standard as well. "With the awards won this year, B-FA has now won a medal in cask, keg and can across consecutive International Brewing Awards competitions, which is a feat we’re very proud of.”Rooster’s was established in 1993 at a time when most ales on the market were brown, Rooster’s Brewing Co. fast developed a reputation for brewing ground-breaking, hop-forward pale ales that showcase exciting new hops from the USA. The brewery is owned and operated by Ian Fozard and his sons, Tom and Oliver.
