A carnival and conga event planned for the Valley Gardens tomorrow (Saturday) has been forced to relocate because of the bad weather.

The Marie Curie Cancer Care dance event, featuring Peppa Pig and the Emmerdale actor who plays Cain Dingle, had been scheduled for the park from 11am.

Heavy rain has fallen in Harrogate today, and with more forecast for tomorrow, organisers have been forced to find an alternative.

Fortunately, the Cairn Hotel in Harrogate has stepped in to help, offering to provide their function room free of charge for the dance challenge.

Registration opens at 11am at the Cairn hotel for the dance challenge and their will be stalls with everything from cakes and plants to crafts and children’s face painting.

Local dance groups will join Peppa Pig and Emmerdale Star Jeff Hordley, who plays Cain Dingle and will open the event with the Mayor and Mayoress of Harrogate at noon.

Registration to take part in the dance challenges is £10 or £20 for a family and includes a t-shirt and goody bag to collect on the day.

The dance challenges start at noon with three different dance sessions; zumba warm up, salsa and zumba party, followed by the conga which everyone is invited to take part in.
