Trouble for high street

THREE shops in Harrogate are facing an uncertain future.

The La Senza lingerie store in the Victoria Shopping Centre is among 81 of 146 UK outlets earmarked for closure after the company applied to go into administration on December 23.

The shop is currently holding a closing down sale, but a statement issued by La Senza said: “No decision has been taken as to when any stores will close but the company can confirm that it will continue to trade as normal in all stores in the meantime.”

Meanwhile, the Barratts shoe shop on Cambridge Street is under threat after the company went into administration.

A buyer is still being sought for the 173 high street stores, including the one in Harrogate, which remain open.

And changes are on their way at Blacks Leisure on Station Parade as discussions take place about selling either the company or one or more of the group’s brands.

On December 7, the board of Blacks Leisure Group plc invited offers to support further investment in the group, and it has since announced that a number of parties had submitted offers.
