Town chamber reflects on busy year

Knaresborough Chamber of Trade revealed its brand new ‘discoverknaresborough’ website at its AGM on Tuesday, March 19.

The meeting also saw the launch of a new chamber logo and members’ window stickers, an updated town guide and an open photography competition.

Chamber IT officer Paul Sigsworth gave a mini-presentation on social media for small businesses.

President Maurice Bardon reported on a busy year. Despite poor weather the Spring Fayre was well supported, he said. The weather had improved by December and 2012’s Christmas market was probably the biggest yet.

The chamber put up all weather town maps and decorations, published a town guide, met council officers, hosted social evenings, donated to the Christmas Lights Appeal and sponsored a feva event.

Mr Bardon thanked the committee members, particularly Paul Darley who stepped down as Chamber Treasurer after 14 years of service. Secretary Joan Broadbank and Vice President Kath Empson also stood down and were thanked for their work.
