THERE were mixed fortunes this week for three chain stores in Harrogate town centre.
The Victoria Shopping Centre branch of La Senza has closed, with the loss of 10 jobs, but Blacks on Station Parade and Millets on Beulah Street will remain open after being sold to JD Sports.
Both La Senza and Blacks Leisure Group - which also owns Millets - had gone into administration, with their affairs being managed by KPMG.
Brian Green from the administrator said: “The sale of Blacks Leisure Group allows the continued trading of all the shops. Blacks has struggled, in tough economic conditions, to generate enough cash to service its high overhead costs.”
He said Blacks had “a strong brand and generated a huge amount of buyer interest”, with this week’s announcement drawing a line in the sand.
Harrogate’s La Senza store is among 84 being closed nationwide.
