Newby Hall farm shop is reporting a growth in sales and has a new head of the butchery department.
Bucking the national trend the farm shop has seen pork sales grow by nearly 30 percent and reports an increase in customer numbers.
Farm shop manager Mark Maxwell said the success is down to the quality of the porducts and the enthusiastic team.
The shop sells home reared meat and has an experienced butchery team led by a newly promoted manager, John Roy who has 40 years experience in the trade.
He works alongside John Lydon who has been tempted back out of retirement. The ex Coldstream Guard started his retail career young and can boast being the youngest ever Co-op manger at age of 22.
The farm shop, which is on the main Boroughbridge Road, just north of the town also has a small outlet at Newby Hall during the summer months.
The shop won Best Rural Businss Award at the Ackrill Business Awards in 2009.
