Swinton Park Hotel has announced plans to create 20 full-time jobs with an expansion including a new spa and brasserie.

The award-winning hotel has applied to Harrogate Borough Council for planning permission to expand with a innovative spa complex and health club.

The owner of Swinton Park, Felicity Cunliffe-Lister, said: “We have been planning a development including a spa for several years and we are now at the point where the hotel needs to provide these facilities in order to maintain its position as market leader.”

The hotel intends to create an 18-metre swimming pool, wellness suite, gym and fitness studio, treatment rooms and a garden terrace with access to walking and fitness trails throughout the 200 acres of parkland on the Swinton Estate.

The new facilities, which will be open to hotel guests, day visitors and club members, will be built in derelict former workshops and buildings in the hotel’s grounds.

Mrs Cunliffe-Lister said: “The planned development will enable us to restore the redundant buildings, improve access to the parkland for visitors and help establish the Swinton Estate as a destination for sustainable tourism activities such as fishing, walking, falconry and riding; not forgetting the invaluable jobs that would be created to boost the local economy.”

The 31 bed roomed hotel has won a multitude of awards including AA Inspectors Choice and Tripadvisor Travellers Choice award.

Just last week the Samuel’s restaurant at Swinton Park won Gold in the Taste of England Award category from VisitEngland.
