Wetherby-based Akula Living, which manufactures rattan furniture for the garden and conservatory, is enjoying a successful first year thanks to the great summer weather.
Demand has been high for its collections from both consumers and the leisure trade, with a number of leading hotels and leisure centres buying the company’s furniture.
Most of the business is generated through the company’s website, and its collections are also available at Grays Interiors, a new furniture store within Carr Mills in Birstall. The company also exhibited at the Great Yorkshire Show last week.
Managing director, Tim Appleton, is delighted with the way the first year has gone.
“With the British climate becoming increasingly warmer, more and more people want to spend time outdoors drinking, dining or just relaxing,” he said.
“We therefore identified an opportunity to manufacture low maintenance, easy to clean and durable furniture that doesn’t have to be dragged in and out when the weather turns inclement. Although it is manufactured using the highest quality materials, we have ensured our prices are affordable.”
