A society dinner held by the Harrogate Chamber of Trade and Commerce has been hailed a success after a surprise performance from a local group.
The event, at the Cedar Court Hotel, saw past chamber president and general manager of the hotel Simon Cotton take on the role of Master of Ceremonies.
And, as a special surprise, he had arranged for more than 100 members of Rock up and Sing to line the room and entertain the crowds.
“The food was exemplary and, as one or two commented to me after the meal, worthy of a restaurant rather than mass catering for a large number,” said chamber president Sandra Doherty. “Well done Simon and your team.”
Coun Alan Skidmore added: “We were thoroughly well received and looked after and the whole evening passed very quickly, a sure sign when you are enjoying yourself.”
Attendance was up at the event, added organisers, and a raffle on the evening helped to raise £916 for the Harrogate Christmas Lights.
