Pupils from Rossett School in Harrogate are set to make their small screen debuts next week as part of a television programme filmed in Ripon earlier this year.

When The Martin Lewis Money Show came to the city in February, producers invited Rossett’s Samba Band to take part in the filming.

The pupils performed in the market square while presenter Martin Lewis, best known as the man behind the successful website www.moneysavingexpert.com, gave advice to local people about their finances. Each episode of the series focuses on a different issue and while he was in Ripon, Martin was giving advice on council tax and how to challenge the banding a house has been given.

Music teacher Fiona Waddington, who took the band to Ripon, said: “It was a really interesting morning and we enjoyed seeing how the programme is filmed on location.

“The band performed brilliantly despite the fact they were only wearing t-shirts and it was absolutely freezing. We even persuaded Martin to join in for a while – although I’m not sure the electric guitar is part of a traditional samba band!

“the pupils are looking forward to watching the finished product when it is broadcast.”

The Martin Lewis Money Show will be broadcast on ITV next Thursday at 8.30pm.
