Harrogate company NCI Insurance Group has won a major pet insurance contract with insurance giant Aviva.

The deal, believed to be worth millions of pounds, will run for five years and will help NCI to grow its current insurance product range for dogs, cats and rabbits.

NCI said that if the business grew significantly, the company expected to increase its 100-strong workforce by up to 20 per cent.

Neil Richards-Smith, managing director and co-founder of NCI, said: “We have big plans at NCI to expand our business over the coming years and this deal is a major part of our ongoing strategy for growth.

“Aviva is one of the best-known and respected brands in insurance and we are delighted to be working closely with them.

“This deal is a significant win for everyone at NCI and is a testament to the quality and commitment of my colleagues in Harrogate.”

He added that the company expects to announce more major deals over the next six months.

NCI was established in 2000 and provides pet, car and home insurance, as well as vehicle breakdown cover through its well-known Rescuemycar.com brand.
