Crowds despite rain in Starbeck

Waiting for Video...

The rain didn’t stop the people of Starbeck turning out for the annual gala on Bank Holiday Monday.

At midday the Mayor of Harrogate, Coun Robert Windass accompanied by his wife Sylvia officially opened the gala.

This was followed by last year’s gala queen Katie McKee handing over her crown to Melissa Pearson, who will be Starbeck gala queen for the next 12 months, along with her attendant Jade Watts.

There was lots going on over the afternoon including the bonny baby competition, go-karts, dog shows, Punch and Judy, and a new addition this year, Elmo the miniature Shetland pony – who was a big hit.

The field was full of stalls and people, which was heartwarming to see considering the weather.

This just shows that the people of Starbeck are made of strong stuff.

All money raised will go towards the Starbeck Christmas lights, so I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped, and the people of Starbeck for showing their support.
