Club to continue operating Waterside car park

Knaresborough Rotary Club has won its battle to continue operating the Waterside car park on Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays between March and September.

The club pumps the money raised in operating the car park at these times back into the town.

In the last ten years, the club has raised £12,013 from the scheme, used to fund projects such as picnic tables in Conyngham Hall and a sensory garden at Forest School.

An all-day parking ticket at Waterside on the days the club runs it costs £1.80 and after the deduction of VAT and a 14p contribution towards CCTV, the remainder is divided between HBC and the club.

Other projects include the purchase of First Responder and Air Ambulance equipment.

Mayor of Knaresborough John Batt said: “Following a lengthy discussion and hard lobbying with the HBC Cabinet Member for Planning, Transport & Economic Development, I have secured the continuation of the collection of Car Parking fees by the Rotary Club of Knaresborough on Sundays at the Waterside Car Park in Knaresborough.”
