The arrival of the Tour de Yorkshire in the Harrogate district will be on the agenda at the March meeting of Harrogate District Chamber of Commerce.

Welcome to Yorkshire will explain how the event will be organised and highlight the ways in which businesses can engage with the men’s race and women’s race both coming to the area on Saturday, April 29.

North Yorkshire Police and North Yorkshire County Council representatives will also be on hand to answer questions on the practicalities of the event.

Chamber chief executive Sandra Doherty said: “While events like these undoubtedly raise the profile of our area and do much for tourism, there are challenges that come with hosting them – as well as opportunities for businesses to capitalise on the international attention we receive.

The open meeting will be held at Rudding Park on Monday, March 13, from 5.30pm.
