A Nidderdale pub has been named the best restaurant in Yorkshire and the North East in the Sunday Times annual food list.
The Yorke Arms in Ramsgill has has won the accolade for the second year running, and also boasts the top-ranking female chef in the national list, Frances Atkins, who is a native of Yorkshire.
Karen Robinson, Editor of The Sunday Times Food List, says “The Sunday Times Food List is the ultimate taste test. It represents the views of the food-loving public rather than a clique of food critics or anonymous restaurant inspectors telling us where to go and spend our money.”
Second in the list in Yorkshire and the North East is Black Swan in Oldstead. The former village pub on the edge of North Yorkshire Moors National Park was on the verge of closing down when farmer Tom Banks and his wife decided to take it over.
