The team at Aimes Health and Beauty in Knaresborough are celebrating after scooping two awards at The English Hair and Beauty Awards.

The beauty salon took home two awards at the event in Manchester, despite this being the first year they were nominated.

Salon owner Amy Dodsworth said: “It was a total surprise I wasn’t expecting to win at all.

“It was a big deal just to be nominated, nominations are made by clients so it’s great to think we are doing things right and they have gone out of their way to nominate us.”

Aimes Health and Beauty won Salon of the year 2013 in Yorkshire and Humber and employee Rebecca Elizabeth Selby won Masseuse of the year 2013.

Miss Dodsworth said: “Rebecca has been working with us for a year now and I am just so proud of her for winning.

“She has settled in really well and is a part of the team.”

The 31-year-old businesswoman set up Aimes Health and Beauty eight years ago after six years of working in the health and beauty industry.

Miss Dodsworth said: “When working for other people you have to do things their way.

“This way I get to do things my own way which must be working as the clients obviously like it.

“I set up the business with a bit of help from my dad and four years ago we moved to a bigger premises in Knaresborough, meaning we now have four treatment rooms.

“My sister, Emma Dodsworth works as a receptionist for the salon too, so it’s a bit of a family business I suppose.”
