The company behind the Allerton Park waste incinerator scheme is to give North Yorkshire County Council almost £1m and pay for the upkeep of large parts of Allerton Park, it has been announced today.

The extact terms of the planning permission, including AmeyCepsa’s “section 106” responsibilities, have been finalised and a formal decision notice has been issued.

AmeyCespa will have to pay £128,791 towards improvements and upkeep of the the busy A59/A168 junction near the site, and will pay a further £839,500 into a fund the council will use to improve “local landscape character, biodiversity and/or cultural heritage”.

And on Allerton Park land surrounding the site of the waste incinerator the company will conservation and repair work on historic structures including the Ice House, Lady’s Cave, Boat House, fish ponds, tunnels, walls, railing and gates.

News of the plans’ approval, and the was met with anger from campaigners and local residents.

A spokesman for campaign group North Yorkshire Waste Action said they were taking legal advice on taking the case the judicial review.
