A CHARITY fashion show raising money for cancer care and support has been given a boost.

The Cancer Charity Fashion Extravaganza will take place in Harrogate’s Royal Hall on October 30.

The event has been organised by a group of women who have first-hand experience of breast cancer, and its models include children, men and women, from Ripon, Knaresborough, Wetherby, and the Harrogate area, who have been battling with cancer.

More than 800 people are expected to attend the show, which will feature a wide range of clothing from a host of famous names.

All profits will be split equally between Saint Michael’s Hospice and Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust for the proposed new cancer unit at Harrogate hospital.

Now the event has been given a boost by Tesco, which has agreed to sponsor the event for a second time and donated £2,000.

The fashion show committee is still appealing for businesses to sponsor the event (current sponsors include Saks Hair Salon, Spire Leeds Hospital, Hopkinsons Estate Agent, Harrogate Ladies College, Chatsworth Dance Centre, A Make-up Engagement and Tig - The Inter Group). Contact Jane Money or Julia Bentley by email jane.money@gmx.co.uk or juliabentley@btinternet.com or telephone Jane on 07795 293368.

For tickets, visit Harrogate Box Office on Kings Road in Harrogate between 10am and 1pm Monday to Friday, telephone 0845 1308840 or visit www.harrogateboxoffice.co.uk.
