Christmas fair Thursday, December 5 5-8pm in Bishop Thornton Primary School, £1 for adults, children free, there are hot dogs, beverages, games, wreaths, cakes, cards, gifts and much more. Markinton Institute Christmas fair Saturday, December 7 10.15am -noon Entry £1 includes refreshments Santa arrives 10.30am, tombloa, face painting, children crafts, cakes, bric-a-brac, raffle, independent trades and much more in aid of Markington Village pre-school. Please go along and support local villages and churches.

St Nichols Festive: Coldstones Cut will be illuminated every evening from December 6 - 22 giving the opportunity to visit this monumental sculpture adorned with fairy lights for the Christmas season (free entry). Christmas Spark is an exhibition of arts/crafts made by the artists at the Old Workhouse, which includes blown glass, ceramics, precious metals/gemstones, textiles, paintings, stone carvings and hats. A preview evening will be held from 5-9pm on Friday, December 6, then the exhibition continues daily until Sunday, December 15.

The St Nicholas Fair will be held on Saturday, December 7 from 10am-1pm at Pateley Bridge Memorial Hall when there will be the chance to meet Santa, listen to festive music and shop for Christmas gifts. On Sunday, December 8 at 10.30am, a festival service will be held at St Cuthbert’s Church. On the same day, from noon-4pm, a Santa and stalls event will be held at the Auction Mart, when the family can meet Santa and his animals and shop for inspiring presents. On Friday, December 13 from 5-8pm, Late night opening and the dragon parade will be held around the streets of Pateley Bridge, accompanied by carols and drumming! A family film afternoon will take place on Saturday, December 14 in Pateley Bridge Memorial Hall. Starting at 1.30pm, children can enjoy face painting and delivering their letters to Santa. The film, Planes, follows at 2.30pm.

Archaeology Project: KS2 childern from Bishop Thornton Primary School visited the children from St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, with further work on the project about archaeology in the local area. Mr Cale, a local historian will be leading the children.

Playing and Learning: St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School KS1 children will be joining in the afternoon with Bishop Thornton Primary School, for a time of play and learn together.

Carol Concert: Key Stage 2 children form St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School took part in Ripon Rural Schools Carol Concert in Ripon Cathedral.
