Church Yard: weather permitting on Saturday, November 9 at 10.30am there will be a working party in St John CE Churchchurchyard. Everyone is welcome to come along to help and refreshments will be served.

School News: St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Bishop Thornton Class 1 visited Tropical Word Leeds as part of their topic. The children saw a variety of animals and insects’ during the visit and thoroughly enjoyed the day. The behaviour of the class was excellent and the children represented the school brilliantly.
Visit: St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School will be visiting a school in Kirklees on November 21 as part of the of the inter-faith week. In the morning the school visits St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Batley Carr and will spend time with Year 2 and 5 classes. After lunch there will be a tour of the Masjid-e-Noor Mosque in Batley and two art workshops with Kirklees, Interfaith Services. Later in the visit there will be opportunity for a question and answer session with the Imam.
The school very busy preparing presentations and films to show life at Bishop Thornton School and the village. During the year the school children will maintain communication between both schools via email and letter writing, before we host a reciprocal visit to Bishop Thornton in the summer
Twitter: it’s an additional way of keeping in touch with St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School. Bishop Thornton Primary School: was visited by the fire brigade when they were given a presentation about bonfire night fire safety, as well as fire safety in the home.
Robingwood: three children from Year 6 spent three days at Robingwood with children from Birstwith Primary School. They had a fabulous time participating in team building games, high ropes, canoeing, caving and many more activities.
Bake Off: Bishop Thornton Primary School is holding a Great Bishop Thornton Bake Off where families are provided with a recipes and dry ingredients, ready weighed out. It’s a Let’s Get Cooking, recipe which takes 30 minutes and results are judged blind.
