New Building: in the September term the children from St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School will be go back to further improvements to the school which took place over the summer break .These include a brand new play area for the infants with a canopy, also to make it more accessible, a ramp up to the front door.

Head Teacher: there will be a a new head teacher, Mr Bastable, next term at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, the staff and most of the children have met him before they broke up for the summer holidays.

Swimming: Bishop Thornton CE School children will continue to go swimming until the October half term.

Thank you: Miss Chapman from Bishop Thornton CE Primary School would like to thank all the parents and children for all their good wishes and gifts for the wedding. She and Steve were very touched, after the summer break she will be Mrs Gains!

Cricket: Bishop Thornton 1st Team play Spofforth at home on August 17, the 2nd team play away to Sessay 3.

Foot paths: the secretary of the Harrogate Branch of the Ramblers Association, Peter Well, started back in 2006 to address the foot path problems in Bishop Thornton, working with officers of NYCC and landowners. The Ramblers managed to resolve a long standing problem to the north of the village (Colber Beck Farm Green and Hill Farm) They recently resolved the issue of the long closed footpath through Colber Beck House Farm, opposite St John’s Parish Church leading to High Kettle Spring Farm, which is restored to a high standard with fnger post and gated field, enabling people of all ages to enjoy walking the fine network of footpaths in Bishop Thornton .
