Women’s Institute: Bishop Thornton and Shaw Mills WI know how to start a very cold, icy, wet, windy and dismal day. The members remedy to brighten the day was to have the monthly meeting in the form of a spa day at Nidd Hall. Starting at 11am some members went for a coffee before enjoying all the facilities. Swimming in a beautifully warm pool with the wind howling outside was wonderful. Many spent time in the sauna then a brave moment before jumping in to the plunge pool to close their pores. It was very, very, cold water but worth the effort. Others spent their time in the steam room and long conversations were had in the Jacuzzi. In between all of this members went for their individual treatments of manicures with gel coats, facials, back and scalp massages. Lunch was taken leisurely in the Oak Room upstairs and everybody benefited from a relaxing day with not a jar of jam in sight! This form of meeting is well recommended and one to be repeated during these winter months. Sadly some members had to cancel but hope that they can return at a later date. If this sort of enjoyment attracts you to join this group then please call Liz on 01765 620003 for a friendly chat. The next meeting is at Ripley Town Hall on March 7 at 7.30pm to hear about Gambia from Christine Baker.
