A community project set up to bring Harrogate women from different backgrounds together has celebrated its first birthday.
Harrogate Women’s Project, which meets at Mowbray Community Church, marked its anniversary with an open day on Thrusday, May 16.
The weekly drop-in group was set up to provide a welcoming and safe environment and to empower women.
One regular visitor, Anne, said she had learnt lots from the group.
Anne said: “I like the crafty and creative things we do.
“People come for all sorts of reasons, and we all learn news skills. Everybody who comes is different and everybody is worth something.”
The group have had jewellry making and sewing sessions, and even started to sell some of their products, organiser Annie Elias added.
They have had a session with an image consultant, and relaxation and mediation classes.
Kate Green, from Killinghall, got involved through Mowbray Church, where she is a regular member. “It’s all about people finding out what they are good at and finding their potential, she said.”
The group meets Thursdays 9.30am-12.30pm at Mowbray Community Church.
