Birstwith CE School News: School will participate in World Book Day on March 8 when we hope the children will come to school dressed as their favourite book character, with the appropriate book accompanying them. Our school choir - under the excellent guidance of Mrs Paxton will, again, be entering a singing competition which will form part of the Harrogate Music Festival. This is due to take place on Saturday, March 16, at Harrogate Ladies’ College. School’s photographer will be taking the very popular, contemporary type class group photos during this month which, as usual, will be offered for sale to parents. On March 7, Year 6 children will attend the annual Crucial Crew event at The Barracks in Ripon. This always proves an enjoyable - and beneficial - occasion for the children when they are taken through various “emergency” scenarios such as fire, farm safety, water hazards, drugs, First Aid, etc. We shall be holding our Parents’ Evening sessions from 3.45-6pm on both Tuesday, March 19, and Thursday, March 21, when it is an opportunity for parents to talk to their children’s teachers to review their work and progress. On Thursday, March 21 at 3pm, and in anticipation of the children’s Easter holiday, there will be an egg-rolling competition and fund raising for a charity in the form of a coin egg. On Thursday, March 28 at 9.30am we will be holding our Easter Service in church when we extend a warm invitation to the children’s families to attend. Merit Assemblies - to which you are warmly invited - will be on Friday, March 8, and 22 at 2.50pm.
