Harvest Festival: once again we had a superb selection of flowers, fruit, vegetables and produce. All the traditional harvest fayre was displayed and the children of Birstwith School brought a variety of items to their Friday morning service. The church really looked great and many of the congregation congratulated you all on your dedicated work in making the harvest services so memorable. Not forgetting John who kindly laid up the coffee table for us - much appreciated. Thank you everyone, we hope to see you all at Christmas. Jenni Worsnop.

Sarah’s Plea: music has always played an important role at St James’s Church. In recent times we have seen a decline in numbers in the choir, and the band, but still the few that remain continue to give their gifts enthusiastically (usually) to the cause of enhancing the worship. As we approach Christmas I look forward to welcoming back all the members of the ‘extended Christmas choir’. But I also want to invite and encourage any members of the congregation who enjoy singing to come and join us. We are particularly looking for youngsters, boys and girls and men! (of course it is my hope that you will enjoy the experience so much that you will want to stay!) Sarah Warnes.
