Embroiderer’s Guild: the next meeting of the Nidderdale branch will be held on Saturday, July 20 and will be a competitions day. These will be held in Birstwith Church Hall, beginning at 10am and spread over four groups. Birstwith Walks: both walks on Sunday, July 28 will be about six miles long and start from The Station. The morning walk will leave at 10am and go via West House Farm, Clint, and Hollybank Wood to Ripley (ice cream stop) then via Crag Hill and Hampsthwaite returning to Birstwith around 1pm. The afternoon walk will leave The Station at 2pm and go via Hardcastle Garth and Birchfield Farm (ice cream stop) then via Hartwith, Winsley and Tinker Lane to finish at The Station around 5pm. You can do both or only the morning or the afternoon walk. The walks will be at a pace to suit those taking part. If you bring dogs you must keep them under control. You will need clothing and footwear appropriate to the weather and possibly something to drink and eat along the way. Birstwith Show: this will be held on Saturday, July 27 and what a show we have lined up for you! Nidderdale Llamas, Hope Pastures Pony Sanctuary, 3 Sixty Mountain Bikers, Children’s Races, Miss Harrogate, Egg Throwing and much much more. Come and join us for a fab family day out.

Birstwith Show Evening Event: Join us after the show and let your hair down. We have live music from ‘Free Beer’, cold beer and wine and delicious food from ‘Men Can’t Cook’. Did you come last year and have their mouth-watering homemade pies, well this year we have a ‘Homemade Chinese Banquet’ on offer for you. There will also be a raffle of prizes that have kindly been donated to Birstwith Horticultural Society.

Tombola Items Wanted: if you have anything to donate to this year’s tombola, it would be greatly appreciated. Please drop off at Haystacks, Nidd Lane, Birstwith or alternatively please ring Lynda on 01423 772534 and we will try to collect.

Show Gardens: our show garden competition is back for another year. Enter on entry night, Friday, July 19 at St James’s Church Hall. Entry is £20, £15 will be returned to you on show day on completion of your garden. The theme this year is A Country Garden. Please see the Birstwith Show schedule for all other criteria. First prize is £50 and the Angus and Heather Holmes Shield.

Our New Class: children’s fancy dress competition, with a theme of flowers and vegetables. Classes, under 11 years-old, and 11-16 years-old. Judged on originality, imagination and effort. Free to enter. Please be in the main ring on show day at 12.20pm, judging will commence at 12.30pm - the winner will recieve something sweet!
